Review: Domino’s Crispy Melt Pizza

My girlfriend and I were just presented with a dilemma. We were craving calzones from DP dough - but the local DP Dough franchise decided to close Tuesday and Wednesday, in preparation for not working on Thanksgiving, Thursday. I think this is incredibly bad business sense, and a tad lazy, but maybe the owner just needed an extended break? Either way, back to the dilemma - our craving for calzones would not be solved by ordering from DP Dough, so instead we decided to try out a new pizza from Domino’s, the Crispy Melt. We usually steer clear of Domino’s, preferring other restaurant’s recipes, but tonight it was an issue of urgency, and Domino’s is only a 30 second drive from my house (yes, I could have walked, but it is currently dark, snowy, and 15 degrees outside). This new Crispy Melt pizza from Domino’s has been haunting my TV screen for the past month, and I decided it was finally time to try it.

The pizza is actually quite delicious. We ordered online, and used the coupon for a one topping crispy melt pizza for $9.99 - we chose pepperoni as our topping. This pizza is like a sandwich, in that it has all of the toppings baked between two thin pizza crusts. The top has a bit of cheese and herbs melted onto it. The gimmick is, it is supposed to be crispy and melty tasting at the same time. We both thought the pizza turned out very good, and it lived up to the hype of having both crispy and melty textures, a unique texture experience. The size of the pizza probably isn’t worth the price tag, but in this instance it was worth it to fulfill a craving.
