The citi bank master card is my best card with 10% apr and a 3k baseline credit. Far better than 95% of other cards out there.

Carrying two cards from different issuers is a great idea, like having a Visa/MasterCard and an American Express/Discover. Most credit cards now feature some type of reward and an introductory offer. Which card you choose should be based on your spending habits, what type of reward and which cards are accepted at those places your frequent most.

Most online applications now feature instant approval.

Ah, a topic i can relate to ;P

I like chase freedom cards for a primary spending card. As the 3% back on three top categories makes it easy to use first. They had a free $50 for sign-up and when you reach $200 you can redeem for $250. It comes in both Visa and Mastercard versions.

I believe i read that it is good to have one line from each major carrier (American Express, Discover, Visa, Mastercard). Amex and Discover are harder to use for daily purchases. Visa/Mastercard are accepted just about everywhere and was the main reason i switched away from using discover for everything.

Obsessive people might choose 5% cash back cards for specific categories and only use those for all purchases. You may need a lot of cards to hit all the categories ;) Slightly less obsessive people could use multiple chase 3%/3 cards and divvy up the categories to only have 3 categories used on each card and have all purchases get 3% back.

I'm lazy, so just use a chase freedom for everything.
